Dear Trump-Voting Friend— Don’t Ask Me About My Job Security
You voted for a chaos agent. I don’t want your sympathy.
Recently, a friend texted me, concerned about my position as a government contractor at the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
But I know they voted for Trump. I replied that my job future is ‘up in the air’ and with Musk/DOGE, I don’t feel confident that I’ll still have a job in a few months.
They said they felt bad for me, but I don’t want to listen. Their concern rings hollow.
I’m not interested in hearing you tell me how ‘unsettling’ this time is for everyone. You decided to vote for a man who doesn’t care about the rule of law. You voted for someone whose ultimate authority is himself and his ego.
Sure, you may not have known ‘this’ (meaning the wholesale destruction of the bureaucratic state) would be forthcoming. But you cannot claim naivety.
You listened to his speeches. You’re steeped in the right-wing echo chamber of Newsmax, ONE, and Fox News. You know all about Project 2025.
You’ve supported him and blessed his purging of the FBI, the Justice Department, and all checks on his power-hungry nature. You ranted to me about the ‘deep state’ that was out to get him in many conversations.
